30/11/17 - X-Files mobile game is coming

news pic A new X-Files mobile game is being launched to coincide with the upcoming 11th season of the show.

FoxNet Games and Creative Mobile will release X-Files: Deep State, a mystery puzzle game which will be available for Android and iOS devices, and Facebook.

The game will see you working with Y Agent Dale as you investigate government conspiracies and will feature a storyline revolving around the alien invasion and government conspiracies, as well as self-contained episodes related to various paranormal cases.

 

29/11/17 - Scooby-Doo! Where are you?

news pic A spin-off Scooby-Doo live action movie is being planned which will centre on Daphne Blake and Velma Dinkley.

Here's the official synopsis for Daphne and Velma:

Before their eventual team-up with Scooby and the gang, bright & optimistic Daphne and whip-smart & analytical Velma are both mystery-solving teens who are best friends but have only met online — until now. 28/11/17 - Franco working on new X-Men project

news pic James Franco has confirmed he's working on a new superhero project.

In a recent interview, Franco said: "I do have a superhero that I am developing. I don't know how much I can say. But I will say I am producing and performing in it. Or will perform in it. It's early stages. I think probably what I can say is, like anything, there's a need to develop more.

What I love about what Simon Kinberg and Fox and the X-Men people have done with Deadpool and Logan — it took a while to get there, maybe 10 years, but they are going to go hard R. And we're going to take, you know, this superhero thing and really just push it into a new genre. Deadpool's almost like an action romantic comedy. And Logan's like a western, you know? So we're working with Simon Kinberg on an X-Men property. It’s in the X-Men universe."

 

27/11/17 - Alien 3 used Michelle Pfeiffer's lips

news pic Did you know that the lips of the alien in Alien 3 were modelled on the smackers of Michelle Pfeiffer? Well, you do now.

David Fincher has revealed that he and H.R. Giger originally designed the StarBeast Pfeiffer's lips as they wanted the beast to have a more feminine look.

Giger was apparently unhappy with the way that the adult alien looked in the first two movies, so he redesigned the alien with more of an animal-like, elegant feel. Giger felt that the head should stay the same, albeit with some tweaking, and that the body should change to give it a more feline, "lethal" look that would go on to terrorize kids for decades.

Fincher and Giger felt that the face needed to be more feminine and the director told Giger to model the mouth after Pfeiffer's voluptuous lips.

In a recent interview, Fincher said: "We did give it Michelle Pfeiffer's lips. That's what they're based on. It always had these little thin lips, and I said to Giger, 'let's make it a woman when it comes right up to Ripley.' So it has these big, luscious collagen lips."

 

24/11/17 - Tom Baker returns as The Doctor

news pic Old School Doctor Who fans will be cheering the news that Tom Baker has returned to film a special appearance on a new Doctor Who project.

The 83-year-old actor donned his Doctor's trademark stripy scarf to film scenes for to completed the 1979 Who story Shada.

The original story, written by Douglas Adams, was never completed because of strike action at the BBC.

The story have now been released by BBC Worldwide, with the original footage combined with new colour animations and voiceovers to complete the story. In the new scene, Baker was filmed at BBC Television Centre in London on the set of the original TADDIS from 1979.

23/11/17 - Whedon no longer attached to Batgirl

news pic Sources close to the production of the Batgirl movie have revealed that Joss Whedon may have stepped away from the project.

There are a number of reasons why this may be the case. Firstly, Whedon was involved in extensive reshoots for the Justice League film, which ate into development time on Batgirl. Then there's the open letter that Whedon's ex-wife released which went into detail on their personal life. and his numerous affairs.

The source state that Warner Bros made the decision months ago over the problems in Whedon's personal life.

 

22/11/17 - Halloween pushes back its start date

news picAccording to sources close to the production, the new Halloween movie, is to delay its start date until 2018.

However, it's still on schedule to open in cinemas in October 2018.

Production was supposed to have started this October and principal photography was supposed to be well underway. past October. Cameras should already be rolling, but that's not the case.

 

21/11/17 - Henry Cavill's Superman will return

news picHenry Cavill has confirmed that he's contracted to play Superman in at least one more movie

While there's no official word on what that movie will be, Cavill is hoping that it will be Man of Steel 2.

In a recent interview Cavill said: "There's a wonderful opportunity to tell the Superman story. Now there is a fantastic chance to show Superman in his full colours and tell a very complex, character-driven movie that is based on story and have that wonderful sensation of hope and happiness. A feel-good movie with lessons laced in there as well."

 

20/11/17 - Animated Godzilla trilogy of movies

news picToho has revealed that it's releasing two more Godzilla movies on the back of it's animated Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei (Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters).

The Japanese production company are set to bring us Godzilla: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi (Godzilla: The City Mechanized for the Final Battle) and an as yet untitled movie.

Godzilla: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi will re-introduce Mechagodzilla, the robotic weapon designed by man to destroy Godzilla.

 

17/11/17 - Dune movie to stay faithful to the book

news picFrank Herbert’s Dune is being brought to life on screen once again. This time by director Denis Villeneuve.

However, Villeneuve says that it will be very different from David Lynch's 1984 movie.

“David Lynch did an adaptation in the ’80s that has some very strong qualities,” said Villeneuve in a recent interview. “I mean, David Lynch is one of the best filmmakers alive. I have massive respect for him. But when I saw his adaptation I was impressed, but it was not what I had dreamed of, so I’m trying to make the adaptation of my dreams.”

 

16/11/17 - Bleach creator is pleased with the film

news picTite Kubo’s has stated that Warner Bros. Japan's live-action movie of his Shonen Jump manga Bleach series reflects his original vision.

In a recent interview, Kubo said: "For the Japanese live-action version, I feel that we have come close to the original work. I am really looking forward to it."

 

15/11/17 - Are You Afraid of the Dark movie plans

news picParamount Pictures is to turn Nickelodeon's '90s TV show Are You Afraid of the Dark? into a movie.

Gary Dauberman, who wrote IT, has been brought in to write the screenplay.

The TV show was a horror anthology series that followed a group of friends, known as The Midnight Society, who would tell scary stories around a campfire.

 

14/11/17 - Here's the latest on the Halloween film

news picDanny McBride has been talking about the new Halloween movie, which he wrote with with director David Gordon Green.

"It picks up after the first one, but it’s sort of an alternate reality," said McBride. "It’s as if the first Halloween ended in a slightly different way."

The film's centrepiece is the final battle between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), with all of the sequels being ignored by this new production.

"I just hope that we don’t f*** it up and piss people off," said McBride. "This is such a diehard fan base. You don’t want horror fans being your enemies because they show up at your house with masks on. We are diehard fans of Halloween. We’re watching all the sequels and where things have taken left turns here and there that maybe bites for fans, and at least trying to deliver what we would have wanted to see. Hopefully that will line up with most fans."

 

13/11/17 - Is a Black Widow movie coming?

news picA stand alone Black Widow movie has long been discussed but no real hint that it's happening has surfaced.

In a recent interview Stan Lee was asked about the possibility. "Funny you should ask that."said Lee.

"One day there will be a Black Widow movie."

Kevin Feige has promised in the past that the Black Widow solo movie will happen. He's just never confirmed that something concrete is happening.

 

10/11/17 - Del Toro's Pinocchio is a no go

news picDirector Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio movie is now officially not happening.

Del Toro had been trying to get the movie off the ground for over 10 years but he just can't get the funding to make it happen.

The director recently revealed: "It's not happening. But the idea was to do Pinocchio during the ascension of fascism in Italy, with Mussolini. It was a good time to discuss the idea of being a puppet or being a human, but you know, it's not in progress.

"When I announced Pinocchio I got many calls: 'Yeah but it's set during the rise of Mussolini, it's an anti-fascist Pinocchio.' (mimes they all hung up)".

 

09/11/17 - Star Wars 40th anniversary vinyl LPs

news picDisney Records is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope with the release of a special 3-LP release on vinyl on 01 December.

John Williams’s original score will be housed across 3-LPs on 180-gram vinyl, complete with a 3D hologram of the Death Star on disc three, along with the film’s 40th anniversary logo on the opposite side.

The release also comes with a behind-the-scenes book featuring rare photos from production and essays looking back at the legacy of the film score.

08/11/17 - Original Halloween mask unearthed

news picThe original Michael Myers Halloween mask was thought to have been lost, but it's resurfaced recently.

The mask was used in Halloween and Halloween II by actor Dick Warlock and has been in the possession haunted attractions organiser Mark Roberts. Roberts also owns the original boots and scalpel Myers used on screen as well.

Roberts's revealed how they came into his possession: "I have been building and running haunts for the last 26 years. About 20 years ago I got in contact with an agent who represented Dick Warlock and asked about booking Dick for an appearance at my haunt. The funny thing was I contacted him to book Gunnar Hansen (the original Leatherface) and when we were getting that set up he told me he also represented Dick and asked if I would be interested in booking him also. So I set up to have Dick at the haunt and his agent said he had the mask and costume from the movie and would wear it at the appearance. When Dick came to the haunt, he was mad at his agent because he said he does not wear the costume for appearances. He did tell me that he still had the costume, boots, mask, butcher knife and scalpel and that he would sell it; he just didn't bring them out for appearances.

"Dick was great with the haunted house customers and hanging out with Dick and Cathy for the weekend was a lot of fun and it went so well we set it up for him to come back the next year. I'm not sure if it was after the 1st or second year but I called Dick up and we made a deal for me to purchase the mask, costume, boots, scalpel and knife".

 

07/11/17 - Lord of the Rings TV series planned

news picA Lord of the Rings TV series is currently in the works. At the present time Warner Bros. Television and the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien have been trying to find a home for the project.

Amazon and Netflix are the two companies that are so far in the running to house the show. HBO has already backed out because of the money involved.

Just to own the rights (let alone produce each episode) it's estimated that the winning studio will have to pay out between £150 - 190 million.

 

 

 

06/11/17 - Red Sonja is heading to the big screen

news picMillennium Media is currently producing a Red Sonja film.

Based on the Marvel comic book creation, the character was created in 1973 by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor Smith and was based on a Robert E. Howard short story.

In the comics, Red Sonja is a sword-wielding heroine whose family are killed. She gains abilities that allow her seek revenge on their killers.

The movie's co-producer, Avi Lerner, said: "[we] have been waiting for the right time for this remake and with the success of Wonder Woman, the audience has spoken. They want female heroes.”

 

03/11/17 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return

news picThe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to return to Nickelodeon in 2018 in a brand-new animated series.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is "a reimagining that follows the band of brothers as they encounter new allies and villains and discover a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City,"

The voice cast includes Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raphael, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leonardo, Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donatello, Brandon Mychal Smith (You’re The Worst) as Michelangelo and Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April O’Neil, and Eric Bauza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Master Splinter.

 

02/11/17 - Power Rangers franchise may continue

news picDespite poor box office takings, Lionsgate and Saban may still bring us another Power Rangers movie in the near future.

In a new interview Amanda Zerbib, Account Supervisor for Alison Brod Marketing and Communications, said: "The franchise remains as strong and enthusiastic about its future as ever. Power Rangers continues to own and renew hundreds of trademark registrations worldwide, including for the 2017 movie logo. The trademark registration process is very nuanced; and the status of the single application has no bearing on our ownership of or the future plans for Power Rangers."

 

01/11/17 - Haley Joel Osment joins The X-Files

news picHaley Joel Osment is the latest actor to bag a guest star role on the next season of The X-Files.

Osment will star in the six episode, which will focus on FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner. And it's believed that Osment will play a young Skinner.

In a recent interview Mitch Pileggi, who has plays Skinner, said: "You’re going to find out a lot more about his past. Fans will find out who he is, where he comes from and why he is the way he is.”

Other guest stars for the show's next season include Barbara Hershey, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, and Annabeth Gish.
