Play the role of a freelance commuter airline pilot and make your selection from five of today’s most commonly used commuter aircraft. Choose to work for one of six airlines based in different regions of the world and either chose when you work and what flights to pilot, or let the computer chose a job and destination for you...

Commuter Xpress 2 improves upon on the first volume (which was designed for FS 2002 / 2004) and delivers six new aircraft based around the "hub and spoke system" the major airliners use. In this type of system, smaller commuter aircraft fly passengers, usually up to 100 per plane, from smaller airports or regions to larger airports or hub cities where they board larger planes for longer flights to distant cities and the other way around - from major city airports closer to their homes at smaller airports. The goal is to fly the most economical aircraft on any given route to maximise profits.

As the pilot you can chose to work for five different airlines based in France, Germany, Benelux, United Kingdom and the US, and you can select your next job by using a flight selector programme. This allows you to see the departure point, destination, departure time and the aircraft in use for that particular flight. Alternatively you can chose the time saving random option that will assign a flight aircraft and destination in seconds. Each flight launches with a pre-loaded flight plan into the SFX GPS and is then ready to go.

There are six new aircraft from five manufacturers included with Commuter Xpress 2: Bombardier CRJ-900; Embraer ERJ-190; DeHavilland Dash8-Q200; Fairchild/Dornier 328 (jet and prop versions included); and the Saab 340B.

For a change there's an additional feature that's only available to users of FS 2004 - Aircraft Ground Handling. This allows the player to set their taxi speed and provides push back for their aircraft allowing them to back out of the gates and terminals as needed.

If you bought and enjoyed the first instalment, then you'll really appreciate the additional add-ons included with the sequel. However, be warned, you may already own this, as a version containing both volume one and two was released in 2006.
