Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel represents
a new way to view materials on PSP and is based on the existing
Metal Gear Solid comic books, which have been digitally edited
into a 3D medium and now feature sound effects, animations
and music to bring the story to vibrant life...
Metal Gear Solid franchise has been given a new twist
with the latest instalment on the PSP. Metal Gear Solid:
Digital Graphic Novel (MGS: DGN) is based on the
existing Metal Gear Solid comic book.
plot of this interactive graphic novel follows the story of
the first Metal Gear Solid console game. At any point
in the game you can switch to Search
mode. This allows you to examine the page you are on and unearth
more information on things on the screen. As
you progress through the story, you can zoom in and out of
the images using the analogue stick to move around the page,
and the control buttons to zoom in on specific points of interest.
These scanned images are then stored in a library of 100s
of similarly noteworthy elements, adding replay value to the
an interesting idea - an interactive graphic novel that lets
you scan the pages to obtain more information, but I couldn't
helping feeling that something a little more exciting could
have been done with the format and reusing the plot of the
first game was a little bit of a cheap shot.
be honest, while this new genre shows promise, MGS: DGN
is only really going to appeal to die-hard Metal Gear Solid
fans who are also big comic readers. If you don't fit into
this category then you are strongly advised to rent before
buying. However, if you do fit into this category then you'll
love this game.
