Silva Screen Records digitally release The English, Federico Jusid's sweeping, nostalgic and raw score to Hugo Blick's 6-part contemporary Western. Giving a nod to 1950s western soundtracks, the score is enriched by Dvořák’s 'String Quartet No. 12'. known as the 'American', written during Dvořák’s stay in America, and only 3 years after the events of the series. Also featured on the album are the folk songs by The Wailin' Jennys, Melanie, Crooked Still, Ora Cogan and Tom McRae. The second track on the album, 'Tâtačiksta - I Cherish You', features a reading by Emily Blunt...

The score for The English incorporates 18 tracks (55 min, 37 sec). Of these, 12 (32 min, 21 sec are Federico Jusid's (Misconduct; Orbiter 9) incredible original music, 5 (15 min, 37 sec) are songs from the series and 1 (7 min, 39 sec) is Dvořák's classical music piece 'String Quartet No. 12 in F major'.

While I wasn't overly struck on the songs, the rest of the album more than makes up for it. Jusid's music is exactly what you'd hope and expect from a modern Western-based score.

Personal highlights include 'Opening Credits' and the beautifully melancholic tracks 'And Yet Here We Are' and 'Soon Has Come'. Overall, this is another incredibly varied and diverse score from Jusid.
