Moonscars is a 2D souls-like platform slasher

The first thing that struck me about Moonscars was how different it looked to other games out there. It's almost like a crude oil painting come to life. But as far as originality goes... that's pretty much your lot.

It's a 2D souls-like platform slasher that borrows much from other games in the genre (no bad thing) but it never feels cliched or as though it's stealing from elsewhere. The gameplay is punishing... yet, not that difficult to fathom. You'll spot patterns in your enemies and working those out is key to progressing without too many issues.

The early stages act as a pretty solid tutorial, allowing you to get used to all the mechanics in a timely fashion. While there's nothing groundbreakingly original here, it's still a fine entry into the market.

It's a pretty, balanced game that will appease fans of the genre.
