Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection: Beauty and the Beast set features the songs and score from the film on, plus previously unreleased demos, and bonus tracks performed by eight-time Oscar®-winning composer Alan Menken and two-time Academy Award winner Howard Ashman. Also included are liner notes by Alan Menken.

Whether you're a fan of the movie or musicals in general, this release is worth adding to your collection. While the additional material is a nice touch, it's only really of interest to serious collectors. While it was interesting to hear Menken and Ashman's demo recordings, it's not the sort of thing you'd revisit very often. Whereas, the music from the film is one that you'll get years of listening pleasure from.

The 2-disc album contains 31 tracks (2 hr, 47 sec) and includes too many highlights to mention, although I have to admit a weakness for some of the instrumental score pieces including 'Belle Enters The Beast's World'; 'Beast Lets Belle Go'; 'Death of the Beast'; and 'Transformation'.

A wonderful release, which has aged incredibly well and is still well worth picking up if you don't already own the original.
