Lakeshore Records release tomandandy's original soundtrack for the film Wish Upon. The film follows 17-year-old Clare Shannon who is barely surviving the hell that is high school, along with her friends, Meredith and June. So, when her dad gifts her an old music box with an inscription that promises to grant the owner’s wishes, she thinks there is nothing to lose. Clare makes her first wish and, to her surprise, it comes true. Before long, she finally has it all: money, popularity and her dream boy. Everything seems perfect - until the people closest to her begin dying in gruesome and twisted ways. Now, with blood on her hands, Clare has to get rid of the box, before it costs her and everyone she loves the ultimate price...

If you're a fan of horror scores that add a little more than the usual atmospheric ambiance and obligatory loud "jump" moments, then there's much to champion tomandandy's work here. While undoubtedly it works its magic way better when listened to in the medium it was composed for, there are just enough moments to make it worth considering as a score in its own right.

The score contains 25 tracks (42 min, 03 sec) and while I much preferred the film's various artists soundtrack, I found it to be a welcome relief from the usual bland cliched horror score. While there are a lot of standard, by the book, tracks, inclusions like 'Two Wishes Left' and 'A New Day' make this stand out a little from the usual horror fair.

Sure it's still mainly an album that contains a lot of cliched tracks, but the subtler moments are worthy of your time.
