MovieScore Media release Stuart Hancock's score for TV's Crazyhead. Balancing between a teen comedy and a horror film. Crazyhead is created by BAFTA-winning Howard Overman whose previous hit Misfits detailed the lives of teenagers blessed (or cursed) with superpowers. The six episodes of Crazyhead chronicle another unorthodox coming-of-age story as our two heroines, Amy and Raquel navigate their way through the choppy waters of their early twenties whilst simultaneously kicking the ass of some seriously gnarly demons. Originally shown on Channel 4 in October 2016, Crazyhead is now available worldwide on Netflix...

For those that have been following Stuart Hancock's output (I have, for one), his work on Crazyhead shows another side to his talents. This time around Hancock goes a little more electronic and dips his toe into upbeat, funky, Rock based themes. It's a score that works well for the series it was composed for, and it's also an interesting (if a little off the wall) soundtrack in its own right.

The score contains 24 tracks (59 min) and represents a major step up from the normal horror, suspense score. While it won't be to everyone's taste, there are enough interesting segments here to make it worth seeking out. Tracks like 'Bowling Alley Bust-Up' do get the blood pumping, preparing an audience for a fight of flight response. Meanwhile, tracks like 'The Rapey Van' have intricate and well constructed memorable themes at their core.

There's a lot here to digest and enjoy.
