Marco Beltrami's score for Logan is released through Lakeshore Records. In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces...

Marco Beltrami has turned out some impressive scores in the past (1864; The Giver; Gods of Egypt; Snowpiercer; and the soundtrack that first brought him to my attention: Knowing). Sadly his work on Logan won't be joining this list.

It's not that it's a bad score, far from it. It works well in the movie, in the background. It just doesn't have the legs to stand on its own as a collection of interesting themes. The album contains 25 tracks (57 min, 34 sec) and aside from the Western themes (most notable in 'Logan's Limo') and referencing Beltrami's music briefly from The Wolverine, there's little here that will warrant you playing this often

While not one of Beltrami's better efforts, it's still an enjoyable album.
